1702 Thomas GRIGG’s grandfather John GRIGGS who immigrated to Gravesend, NY in 1635 died in Gravesend, Richmond, NY [when “J. Griggs,” without designation as Sr. or Jr., was
assigned lots 11 and 15 and “John Griggs,” without designation as Sr.or Jr., was assigned lot 30, as part of the following transaction: The penny lots of salt meadows in Gd in the “Long Fly and the CedarNeck, Hugh Gerretsen’s and Hog Point,” were laid out by Peter Cortelyou May 25, 1700, into 30 lots. Prehn says that John1 Griggs “probably died before 1703 when (without the Jr.) [ John2 Griggs] deeded mill property at Gravesend.”]
