145.0. Relicario (Reliquary)
This seems to be a santero subject as such wherein the
artist depicts the reliquary and its content, a relic of
some saint, shown in the form of his or her body. See TM
1136 in the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, where a
dead male Franciscan in shown lying in a monstrance-like
reliquary. Reliquaries occur commonly in early eighteenth
century New Mexican inventories.
